Depuis mon séjour aux Etats Unis, mon travail artistique, à l'origine abstrait fondé sur une recherche picturale et ses hasards, a evolué vers une création plus conceptuelle utilisant des matériaux industriels allant du fer au vulgaire plastique (matériaux à l' état brut ou de récupération, particulièrement abondant dans la ville de Chicago).

"SOUS SACHET" est une association de ces deux différentes méthodes de travail, l'une plus intuitive répondant aux lois fluctuantes de l'esthétisme individuel et l' autre plus conceptuelle dans sa méthode de réalisation, orientée ici, vers la production de masse et sa distribution inhérente à notre civilisation occidentale.

1) "Cash & Carry Memory Bag" est un ensemble de sacs en plastique hermétiquement fermés pour produits alimentaires. A l'intérieur de ceux -ci se trouvent les résidus de travaux antérieurs, chaque résidu agissant comme mémoire d'un autre tout.

2) "Dried Cleaned Memories", porte la trace du corps humain , d'une part dans sa forme invoquée par le porte -manteau en fer blanc et d'autre part dans son contenu à travers l'utilisation de matériaux speudo-hospitaliers rappelant les sacs à perfusion : radios , esquisses empreintes d'instants vécus, sciamment conservées par le nettoyage à sec.

3) "Air Bags", bouées de sauvetage, emballages, sacs préservatifs pour organes vivants ; ils sont là pour protéger mémoires , pensées d 'un environnement corrosif. (Cette installation a un caractère plus scuplturale en raison de sa forme et présence dans l'espace.)

Toutes ces séries sont esquisses, assemblages et si chaque pièce est unique dans sa composition et existe en tant qu' entité subjective, elle fait aussi partie intégrante d ' un ensemble conceptuel (la production de masse/ production individuelle , l’ unicité / la vulgarisation).

"ALL IN A BAG” 2001-2002

Since I moved to the United States in 1991, my work has progressed from intuitive abstract paintings towards a more conceptual process of construction using materials such as steel, glass, light and plastic.

In my recent work, I combine two working methods, one related to the art making process, the other deals with the process of mass marketing. The products of the art making process are considered precious and unique, while the products of mass marketing are considered inexpensive and common. The crossing back and forth between these two opposing processes leads to both a recognition of, and questioning of the works relative place in the present social economy.

ALL IN A BAG is a body of work with the common idea of using plastic wrapping - hermetic and aseptic protection against the outside. Its transparency allows you to see the inside of it, while denying any tactile relation: the only bridge between these two opposites is through the memory

The “Cash & Carry Memory Bags”: is an ensemble of food saver plastic bags hermetically sealed by a heat system. The inside of the bags combine the detritus of previous works, this detritus carries the particles of memory from the past works, and now in combination, acts to propose a new constellation from these previously discarded details.

In “Dried Cleaned Memories” each piece is shaped by the implied form of the human body inherent in the clothes hangers shape. The bags have an opaque, translucent, almost invisible quality. Like I.V. bags they can be hung from a pole on wheels. The bags are like prints, ubiquitous X-rays of individual human moments.

The “Air Bags” are used as life buoys to protect memories. Whereas the previous works inhabit a more painterly realm. These works are more sculptural both in form and attitude towards space.
